How does the positive space after reroute after sign out work? Had a buddy get denied after she got rerouted after sign out. Last flight was oversold. They couldn’t get her on. I thought this was the whole point of the new provision.

Pilot assist did say they didn’t have any guidance on what to do in an oversold situation so everyone’s results may differ until this gets sorted out.

The one time I nearly used it (my delayed flight cancelled) pilot assist listed me for an oversold flight and said the gate agent would need to assign the seat. I assume that meant I was listed like a deadheader or what I’ve heard gate agents refer to as a “must ride.”

oh joy. That definitely defeats the point. If there are seats, then nonreving wouldn’t be a problem. It seems obvious, and I really hope that this was better spelled out in the negotiations, but ….. most likely this is the first of several moments where I get disappointed.

I’ve been wearing mine, but the muscle memory isn’t quite there yet. Last trip, 2 out of the 3 legs I left the flight deck without the dang thing. On the second time the FO waited until we were curbside to politely say “I believe you forgot this sir”

Current status is plain black lanyard and the hat(personally), although not grabbing it for a “do the walk” type event. Seems everyone I’m flying with is doing the same. After the contract passed (following trip) the thought was to not rock the green lanyard. Seemed simple enough, although my lanyard collection was depleted to all contract related lanyards! 17 years in ALPA and the only appropriate lanyard I could find was the most benign in a black string lanyard. Pretty sure my kiddos raided the lanyard collection for the stretchy basic ALPA ones (giant rubber bands) and I’m not about to go straight into to a company one.
In terms of positive space, that happened a day or two after signing where the “penalty lap” was changed, so a RR, and just so happened to end 15-20 mins after original release. CA and I both had JS listings home (and enough time to spare) but utilized the provision and were given positive space PNR’s (JS cancelled as well) for the flights we were originally planning (so it worked). Both flights were tight in terms of count, but seats available. System worked there. My guess is the pos space is working the same as during COVID ops time in that you get a seat on the next flight that has a seat (so will not overbook into a seat like a DH on a trip). Feeling we are in the beginning innings of this battle between pwa language and company with actual reality.
