I believe it will drop the trip in the next bid period. ALPA put something out on “how to optimize your schedule” and one of the methods suggested to get the 4th of July off as a junior pilot was to bid off at the end of June and then bid a trip that begins in the July bid period that covers the 4th. Then wait until you can WS a trip in June that conflicts with the July trip and voila you have the 4th off. Be careful to have enough hours available in June so that you don’t exceed the WS pickup limit and foil your plan.

2nd bid group. List all 50 trips again plus all other stuff if you can’t get enough trips from the 50 to make a legal line.
I’m not certain this would result in a different result than just using your second sample bid group all by itself. If PBS can build you a legal line out of the 50 trips in your first command, it will.

The only thing you might add between the 50 trips you like and the next command with trips you don’t really want would be an “avoid if pairing total credit > 0”. That way, if the first collection of 50 gets you into the LCW but below the threshold, it won’t add an additional trip you really didn’t want but have room for.

there is a box to trip check when you do an open time pick up if you would like the other trip to drop without pay if it conflicts

It’s called “award even if required a drop rotation next bid period No pay”

Is there a way to see all of the notes crew tracking put on your rotation?

Guys (or gals),

Terminology and precise language are important here! The original question was, could a pilot pick up a trip off the Swap Board and cause a conflict with a next month trip. The answer is NO!

You can use the White Slip function to this, as the replies correctly stated. But that wasn't the exact question. You can NOT do this via the Swapboard.

Of course there's a pretty easy solution here. If you see that a pilot has a Swap Board Pickup trip posted, check and see if that same trip is in open time as a Qualified Personal Drop. It should be if the pilot is using all the tools at his disposal. However often times you will see a swapboard pickup, but not a Q trip in open time. If that were the case I would contact the swapboard pilot and suggest he put in a personal drop request so that it falls into open time as a Q trip. Then you COULD white slip that trip to get the results you are hoping for.

Words are hard. Especially precise ones. I missed the swap board part. I imagine if you tried to pick up a swap board trip that conflicted with a trip in the next month, the pick up would be denied.

Default Trip drop question

If I wanted to drop a transition trip that operates late March into the April bid period would it drop as long as the March days were positive? I believe it doesn't consider April availability since they are not know but am not sure about this. I am talking straight PD here not wanting to use an APD or IVD.

Thanks Scoop

Im 99% sure that’s how it works until the April bid results would be posted.

+1. I believe it assumes positive coverage until it’s actually known.
