I know someone who is going through family medical issues. He is not able to go to work at this time to take care of his wife, but he can not afford to take unpaid leave. Is there someone I can’t tell him to call. He doesn’t want to call the chief pilots office because he doesn’t want to tell someone that doesn’t need to know.

that’s fine. You call your CPO and they’ll connect you with people who “need to know.” But you’re going to have to explain why you’re taking leave one way or another. The CPO isn’t going to ask detailed medical info, and you could refuse if they did

My friend asked me if I knew if he could get a paid leave. He also told me not to tell anyone what was going on with his wife. I’m probably going to say too much but it’s undiagnosed and he doesn’t feel comfortable leaving to go away on a trip.
