Just move and commute. Easy Peasy.

Agreed. I've always thought at the very least if a buddy passer pays more than a cheaper fare they should get boarding priority over them.

How does that help with non-rev travel?

It’s not, and with the way we try and squeeze every penny out of every route, it will probably not get better.

1. Getting home - you don’t have to get this flight immediately and this is not the point of my response. 2. It is Company convenience - what is your point? 3. Agreed but it has always worked for me.

4) Backup is required, and,

Pilots have 48 to use per year (4 per month) and this replaces all other non-rev privileges, OR
5) Non-commuting pilots get 48 positive space vouchers to use per year for anyone on their non-rev list.

My two cents.
That is no better than the pre Covid commuter policy. What a dumb idea.

Not accurate. Roughly the same number of people are commuting and they always got priority over non revs via positive space if they couldn’t get on their first flight. Maybe a slight change in jumpseat usage vs seats in back.

Could have sworn my quote concerned FAs and THEIR investment in a career that doesn’t have a huge barrier to entry.

Sorry I missed that. Still don’t think it will make a difference for them either and they can crank out flight attendant replacements like weeds pop up in my yard.

As a guy who moved TO base (for more reasons than JUST the commute) during the era of PS commuting, this made me lol. A commute is a time suck and a money hole, no matter how you slice it. Positive space or not, reserve, line holder, GS/WS/YS/IA/whatever. It decreases flexibility and is uncompensated time away from things you'd rather be doing. Its hours sitting in airplanes and/or airports waiting for and riding on your flight, dealing with delays and cancellations. It's money out of your pocket for parking, transportation, hotels or crash pads, food and incidentals. I had one of the easiest commutes there is and was about the most chill commuter out there but in idle moments it's hard not to find your mind wandering to all the time and money you're throwing away just to get to/from work.

About the only thing PS might do is tip someone towards a more junior base/fleet knowing the commute is only half the headache it used to be.
