At this point, we should just sign a 3 year deal retroactive and start negotiating our next contract that becomes amendable in 6 months.

They had to go to court and got a cease and desist. There is absolutely no correlation between them doing that and them getting a contract.

The company will stall until the recession hits hard.
We won’t see a contract in the next 3 years I bet.

Thats kinda my feeling some days but it probably gives away the leverage. Also, lets be honest, the company's bargaining position is to stare at us from across the table and tell us 4% raise is as high as they will go. They spent too much on stock buybacks in 2020- best company blah blahblab

I disagree. After the summer beat down we are about to get I think most pilots will say enough is enough and pull an Alaska.

Management told us they dont have a staffing problem for the summer... Then weirdly the staffing problem will be fixed in about 12-18 months. I think we're going back to 14.5k pilots and we'll just run things like edv. Greenslips will cover the flying and the 200 days without cancelations will be a story we will our FOs. People get tired of greens theyll just tape people finishing up because we cant seem to figure out how to call out fatigue.

I have a family with kids at home. I've done some greenslips here and there, when I could balance QOL at home. Mostly reserve GS with PB days, because I forecasted I'd work the same number of days that month whether I accept or decline some of those offers. But to suggest we don't need to fret about COLA increases because GS are plentiful (not universally so) is missing the argument. That GS earns me 8.5% less than it did last year. I don't think folks are saying, "they just raised my rent, I cant afford it. If I don't get a raise asap I'll default and get evicted!" If thats the case, yeah pick up some overtime to pay the bills and fix your finances. But thats still no enduring solution. Its called over-time for a reason. We need raises.

And a pilot lamenting they don't have freedom to pickup overtime because they have kids/spouse/commitments etc aren't then hypocrites for posting on SM. I don't waste time on SM when I'm needed for family/commitments. Most of the time that I'm on APC, I'm in a hotel, on a trip, or general downtime when my family is busy or I'm on the throne! How is that the same as saying "honey I just picked up a 3-day GS over the 4 day off stretch I had off. I know I just got off a 4 day, and this will give me 1 day off at home over the next 12 days, but..inflation! You're cool with it?". I know how my spouse and kids react. Spouse Kids

Can 3 4 day trips a month be achieved on a continuous and regular basis I guess is the question?
You asked the question in the middle of an APC food fight, but yes, that is mostly reasonable. There is no minimum amount of flying you have to keep on your schedule, and I can count 5 different ways off the top of my head to get rid of a trip without having to pick up another one. Each has it’s own set of rules and its own time and place for use. Staffing is super tight right now which removes a lot of flexibility but it won’t be like that forever.
