If it is the first position you were awarded out of UNA, you won’t earn a freeze. If you got a position and then subsequently bid to a new one (whether you trained on the first or not) you would earn one based on the length of your training.

He is actually at the director level; Director of Crew Resources and Planning or something like that.
He is the guy that runs and reruns spreadsheets to try and make sure the right pilots are in the right places.
Some say that he is a whipping boy and scape goat being thrashed around by network planning, while others say that he looks for every answer in a spreadsheet and that he struggles to see the bigger picture sometimes.
Either way, our manning is broken and he definitely in the middle of the fray trying to fix it and accurately forecast future crew needs.

Hypothetical (?) :
- You received Domicile A during Indoc
- You want Domicile B
- AE occurs before you start sim training
- You bid for Base B and are awarded
Would you still have to wait for conversion or would you be able to start at B after sims/IOE since you never started at A?

Could be the next month, it could be 12 months. The company has a ton of discretion in when it converts pilots. Once a year they get an AE that has a 12 month window in which they can convert you. All other AEs have a 7 month window. Your conversion could happen at any point in that window

No. Base changes only, which require no training, typically convert very early in the window. It could be any month in the window, but it would be surprising you waited to the end.

…..I’m still in NYC. My category is super fat while my future category is all negative reserve availability and reserves are getting coverage awards every weekend. I don’t know why they don’t move us. I bid in NYC for the Feb bid period, too. So historically, I guess base changes happen early in the window, but along with all of the other thrash that has been happening since April 2020, mileage varies.

Just read an ALPA email that states we are back over 13k pilots on the seniority list. Does anyone remember what we peaked at before Covid? Did we get above 14k for a bit?
