IMO, 6 months of super-easy WB flying, barely keeping landing currency, is nowhere near enough to be safe and competent as a captain, even if you were one in the Regionals.

People’s heads exploded when probationary pilots were awarded -88 Captain a coupe years ago, but this is nuts.
I had just under 1200 121 hours, all in the right seat of the ER. Zero 121 outside of Delta.

I did fly multi crew aircraft in the military (H-60s, E-2Cs, C-12s)

I was out for just under 2 years between Mil Leave, UNA and more Mil Leave plus NQAT.

I went right to the left seat of the 320, with zero Bus experience, and finished OE with one leg over the legal min. But I also studied my yazoo off.

The awards get posted very quickly. Usually 2-3 days. The conversions and projected training dates though can take a few weeks.

They have made the same statement at least twice before in the last 5 years.

With almost 200 posted between LAX, SEA and SLC including the ER, I think 12xxx is definitely possible. Particularly in LA which has half of posted positions.

The pace is what the captain makes it. Delta only hires captains.
