Folks are on a roll with false narratives today. I don't know if they are trying to justify to themselves why they didn't bid those positions or what. Glad to see folks calling them out on it

“Jared Walczak, the Tax Foundation’s vice president of state projects, pointed to his group’s latest state and local tax burden report, from 2019. It shows that 14.1% of New Yorkers’ incomes go directly to state and local government, by far the highest of any state.

Neighboring Connecticut is the second-highest, at 12.8%. The national median is 7.5%.

In addition, New Yorkers pay $9,987 in state and local taxes per capita, which also ranks first in the nation. Connecticut is also second highest in this category, at $9,705.”

don’t get me wrong, NY is expensive AF, but as a whole we don’t have too many “low tax” bases.

I was honestly shocked at how expensive the taxes were in GA.

property taxes are high in NY, but in the scenario where someone is renting an apartment in Brooklyn or something, their property taxes are probably not outrageous.

GA has a fairly low tax burden. Especially property taxes.

According to The Tax Foundation (independent, non profit source, 2019 data)

Tax Burden State Rankings (local and state) for our Hubs

New York - 14.1% (1st, highest)
California - 11.5% (8th)
Michigan - 10% (23rd)
Utah- 9.6% (30th)
Washington - 9.8% (27th
Georgia - 8.9% (41st)
Minnesota- 12.5% (5th)

Granted, this doesn’t translate direct to an individual’s tax burden, but it’s a broad view of overall taxes

Why do you think people spend so much money to live in NYC instead of Louisiana or Florida. Do you think it's just because they are too dumb? You haven't "cracked the code" by living in the swamp. I've lived there and would gladly pay 6% of my income to never have to live there again.

Why do people care so much about other people's choices? Deep insecurities.
