Uniforms

Not my motivation at all. Just what happened. My motivation is to wear your uniform like you’re supposed to. You can say whatever you want, but am I right or wrong?? Exactly. Case closed. You may not like it or agree with it, but it’s clearly spelled out in the FOM.

Guys like this must do wonders for your pilot recruiting.
I bet he tells his FO his callsign in their briefing, insists the stews call him sir, tells the pax about his experience level in his PAs and how the FO is "assisting him" today.

There are the 5% everywhere. Also a lot of new Captains industry wide that don't have the saltiness yet to deal with situations like this yet. Hopefully as they season they will give the LCA/APU Sheriff or whoever) a wink and a "gotcha, anything else? We have work to do" response

Just because jackets are no longer required doesn’t mean you can wear whatever you want on walk around. If you choose to not bring your jacket and it’s 20 degrees somewhere then plan on wearing your short sleeve shirt. I’ve had several FO’S over the years bring sweater (not even black) and light jackets to wear. No go. Don’t put me in that position to have to act like your dad and tell you what you can’t wear. It’s not that hard.

For what? Enforcing our FOM required uniform policy? We all make 6 figures. Wear the uniform like required and there will be no issues. And packable light black jacket for walk around’s is a no go. That’s precisely what FO was wearing when LCA came to cockpit and chewed us both out about. The FO for not wearing an approved uniform and me for not enforcing the policy. If you tools have an issue take it up with your chief pilots and see how well that goes over. Now back to eating your fruit loops.

oh,technically you’re right. You’re also “that guy.” There’s one of you in every squadron or base. I know that doesn’t bother you, that’s why you are the way you are.

I wonder if these folks are as quick to educate their brother and sister pilots about the contract, their history, and unity. I’ll bet that those things get short shrift because that’s all “union stuff”, but they’ll gladly break out the can of verbal whoop ass for silly uniform violations. It’s all about where we put our focus. Is it on the company, or the profession? Most times it’s one or the other. Guys who waste time and energy worrying about a uniform piece on a walk around are typically the same guys who waive the contract, or make no effort to actually know what’s in it. Yes, the uniform specs are in the FOM. But are you really going to sacrifice cockpit cohesion and a good working environment over a stupid pullover? There’s lots of hills to die on. This one wouldn’t even make the top 100 for me.
