Who said anything about NF? Helly-Hansen actually makes a very stylish and uber functional jacket that would be very suitable for our use.
You look plenty stooopid in the tugboat captain outfit (especially those with BMI >35). Then because its freezing rain and drizzle, you dig in your bag to get a jacket that works and will actually protect you from the elements for that walk around. Then you either doof the horse blanket, put on your useful coat. Or put an over sized useful coat over the top of it, not sure what you do, regardless that's a lot of mahcinations. Then come back in and take off the useful piece of clothing, which now you have to eventually re-pack.
Makes no sense oooofffff. Why not just one coat that is actually functional. Not much to ask.
Whatever. We all got opinions.

I pack one of these:

Comes in plain black. Good piece of gear, goes on sale periodically. Packs small and is light.

So what does that have to do with functionality?

not sure the slacks are quite discreet enough for the uniform, but they’re some of my favorite things to wear when going business casual.

My wife swears by their workout clothes. I’m a huge fan of comfortable business casual and may order a pair of the Commission pants. The ABC technology seems like a ripoff of Duluth Trading Ballroom Jeans.

My attire does absolutely affect the quality of my day. Beyond that I find that uncomfortable attire, such as our uniform, contributes negatively to my level of fatigue. Everybody is different though! Some people enjoy having large objects inserted into their derriere. Some people even hilariously take pride in wearing a polyester and gold plated plastic costume that resembles what every AiR LiNe (did I do that right kids?) pilot wore in 1950 before their airlines attire evolved. Personally I take pride in things like mutual respect from my management that would be evident in quality work rules, high pay relative to projected profitability and many other things like non archaic uniform requirements. I'll concede it may not affect the quality of your day but I assure you I'm not being dishonest in saying it negatively affects mine.
We need options like management alluded to was the point of the survey. Instead it's looking like, which is often the case here, that the result will be mostly words and little substance. So congrats to those with fetishes for hats and century old attire, you'll get to keep on enjoying seeing your fellow colleagues suffer in the archaic costumes that were originally designed for what was a very different unoptimized job.

Pilots work 16 hour days, specifically Delta pilots. I'm not interested in debating semantics and what is or isn't defined as work. Call it 14 hours or 13 hours or whatever you think the right number is. The point is our days are long and fatigue is often an issue working here, if we can't agree on that than we simply don't agree. Fatigue is difficult to evaluate and cumulative so I personally don't appreciate unnecessarily adding a proverbial straw that broke the camel's back to my cumulative fatigue because some nerds like to play dress up and insist the rest of us play along.

It’s a lot of buttons, I’ll give you that, but our schedules are good enough at tiring us out, I don’t thin you need to blame your clothes.

While I don't like the hat I'd rather get rid of ties with short sleeve shirts than to get rid of the hat.
Ties with short sleeve shirts are absolutely asinine and indefensible. Military "summer" dress uniforms don't have ties. Do they look "unprofessional"? What other profession wears ties with short sleeve shirts outside of us and Dilbert cartoon satire?
