Hilarious if true.
If endeavor guys are reading this, an old captain is going to tell you someday "Delta doesn't know who you are" when you tell the captain "Delta needs us", or some such buffoonery, and this is what he means.

Back in 2017, in the midst of lots of hiring, I rode on a Delta jumpseat. I was telling the crew that I was eagerly preparing for my upcoming Delta interview. The captain remarked something along the lines of "That's great, I didn't even know we were hiring"

This shouldn't be all that surprising. Lots of pilots that, as long as their paycheck keeps getting deposited, don't really care about much else. Many didn't come from a regional so it's not unsurprising that they don't know them. I worked at a (now defunct) regional, and I can't really keep up with who is who. I had one Captain ask me if when we were going to start negotiations next...this was a week before the infamous TA1 vote lol. Dude had a lucrative side business so I'm guessing he didn't spend much time on the forums/facebooks or reading company/union e-mails. When your young and looking to move up, you know all about it, but once you get there, a lot of that stuff will slowly fall off you plate of cares lol.

You understate the nature of the issue considerably. There are a ton of people who live in a bubble.
