Uniforms

I flown with a captain who wears long sleeves because he's had a bunch of skin cancer cut out of his arms (among other places). Dude had to wear long sleeves/pants on our summer LAS layover....so hot!
100% all of this!
A JetBlue flight attendant was recently almost strangled with their tie. Good enough reason to ditch that article of clothing. Plus the only other employee group wearing a tie with short sleeves are grocery store baggers. Maybe we should ask “paper or plastic” when the passengers board.
A coat when the weather dictates. Something functional with a removable liner, not a suit jacket. We are not businessman, we are pilots.
The hat? It’s a throwback. Get rid of it as it serves no useful function.
So yes, something else altogether. Looking professional doesn’t mean looking like a doorman. It’s 2021. Let’s dress like it.

No jacket requirement, no hat requirement, give us more options (rain coat, winter coat, sweaters, branded gear etc..) and I will be happy. I would prefer a modern look that’s updated every so often as well, but I don’t care as much about that as I do having options of what to wear throughout the year that makes sense for the trip I’m on.

Can we elect to spend the “multi-millions” on something that actually affects quality of life? I don’t care what costume I wear at work. I sure would like it though if the airline was properly staffed, or iCrew went the way of the dinosaur, or maybe vacation paid what a day is worth. Stuff like that.
In no universe can we claim those "millions" as a "bargaining credit" for answering a survey a certain way (or not answering it at all).
And if we are hypothetically so limited in our thought processes that a uniform survey somehow diverts our collective conscious for a new CBA then we're too dumb to get a new CBA in the first place.
Obviously that's not the case. I think we can handle the "workload" of giving our feedback on uniforms without it jeopardizing our collective bargaining efforts.
That said, there is no way we're getting some silly "north face jacket" (LMAFO, srsly?) The hat is here to stay, and optional would look worse than just getting rid of it. Same for leather jackets; they're awesome to have but they ain't happening even if it dominated the survey. IMO the focus should be on low hanging fruit like no ties with short sleeves (which should be a bipartisan slam dunk) and better quality uniform items. The floppy hat looks silly when its brand new and its rapidly downhill from there. Better wings would be nice; wings should look like wings, not an abstract post modern glove box ice scraper.

I want a turnaround chain. Every time we go through Atlanta, and have a plane change, and a turn scheduled at 50 minutes or less, and block out early… we get to wear the turnaround chain instead of the tie for the next 24 hours.

The millions don’t need to be spent on things directly in the CBA. The company has the resources to fix things that actually affect our quality of life if they can dump millions into a uniform that most of us don’t even give a second thought to. They simply choose not to and instead distract us with the stupid hat debate again.

A chain like that should be worn with a shirt unbuttoned down to the belly button. No undershirt required when you are rocking that much sparkle.
