so…I don’t see any benefit as I’m not close to the reserve guarantee…am I missing something?

Reserve for Dummies
No it doesn’t. Had one in March, a 2 day Reserve GS dropped for company convenience, 10:30 coded 4F1C, straight pay, no credit, no PB days, but I didn’t have to fly it. I got a ARCOS award notification, then I can’t acknowledge it… I look in iCrew, and it’s covered by an IA. I called scheduling, they said they just let ARCOS run to see who selected the trip for award (me) and 4F1C was already on my time card.
If a GS NOOP, you get nothing, unless you have blocked out… IIRC, you get suit up pay, if you signed in, and then it NOOP. but that goes towards RES guarantee.
I may have incorrectly assumed that it was a training cancellation, because 8 hours would cover two days for recurrent, that would be pay and credit. The training planners have been canceling recurrent training for folks in early months, to use sim time for higher priority things.

i called CS, I was bypassed on a GS that went IA prematurely. They incorrectly gave me pay/credit…they changed it to pay & no credit.
thank you!

lots of good info in this thread...but need some info on how the max duty period would play into someone on short call, specifically on a350/a330/765...is there a duty time limit to be assigned a flight while on short call? noticed short calls are set at 9 hours, is there a reason for that?

That has all your answers.
PWA Short Call length is 12 hours but everybody figured out that was a huge was of everybody’s time. Hence, 9 hour policy.

WB? Almost never. But beware, there have been some domestic transcons that were uncommutable on both ends in the bid packet in past years. Marketing seemed to like having the lay-flats on certain routes.
No idea what the post Covid bid packets will look like going forward. If it returns to all International, a 12 hour callout will not be an issue on commuting in.

Pick your poison and Yellow Slip a trip you want on your on-call days. (That's Delta language for requesting on fly a specific trip or type of trip on your on-call days). They start assigning next-day flying at 0700 the day prior. That way you can get something assigned with time to commute in and less stress.

If you are asking about NB, often enough…. Don’t get caught out of position.

But for others, if you can’t drive it ‘in a pinch’, you will have a few occasions where you will be expected to be in position. Lately, reserves have been getting used 100% until “Full”, so there really isn’t much grey area to worry about.
