Recommend reviewing 23.S.11. - 23.S.14.

PB days are only generated for flying on X days in the following scenarios:

green slip, IA, reroute, report but does not fly, or late operations

it’s important to note that PB days are *not* contractually generated for OE over x days. Yes, there is precedent, but don’t expect it (and don’t expect it to work like a traditional PB day ie + 30 min for release + 9/13 hours to generate partials).

yellow slips forfeit X days (23.T.6.)

white slips that spillover into a reserve month *should* get any X days flown over moved to begin on the first uninterrupted day (23.S.15.)

Learned something new. I know that a <18 hour GS on Res day generates pay for that duty period above gaurantee. I thought it generated a PB day as well. But thinking about it now, the GS didn't "interupt an X-day" so no PB soup for you.

Bonus note: an OOBGS that starts on a LC day will always pay the first duty period above reserve guarantee no matter how far out it is assigned. There is no 18 hour cutoff as with an in-base GS.

Who is seeing an increase in Silver Slips in their categories? More specifically who is seeing a very tactical use of SS to negate late month GS that generate banked PB days?

Yup, seeing the same. If you can't beat'em, might as well join them.

Question about GS that overlap reserve days. I’m clear on PB days and that you get the pay of the x days and not the reserve days (with credit being applied on the final day of a trip) but what about a duty period that encompasses both an x day and a reserve day like a red eye back to base?

I want to say it’s when the duty period starts that matters but is that local time or base time?

Duty period start adjusted for base time. So a west coast report for a NYC, ATL, or DTW pilot of 2100 or later will fall on the on call day for pay purposes.

Question regarding Extended Duty Pay and short call:

If assigned a trip near the end of a short call period, the FARs consider duty to have begun at the start of the short call availability. Would the same be true for extended duty pay? Me thinks the answer is NO,
but I've tried finding a reference without any luck.

EDP clock starts with FDP report, not SC start time. I don’t have a specific reference offhand other than SC is not duty, thus it does not qualify for any sort of duty pay. It’s the same with duty period pay (not EDP). We’ve had that for a very long time and that has never factored in SC time prior to report.
