Default Meeting with recruiter times opening

Not sure if anyone else saw but the delta recruiting page posted that we can schedule to meet with recruiters at RTAG and the Delta pilot career expo. I noticed they changed the wording of who is eligible.... They said you must meet all the minimum requirements plus the 1,000 turbine time, which is stated on the applicaiton as a referred requirement (I meet both). But now theyre adding you need 2,500 TT as well to meet with a recruiter. My question is, has anyone heard anything about this? I just don't understand why thats not listed anywhere on the App as a preferred requirement and as never been talked about before yesterdays post. I think its understandable to ask for the 1,000 Turbine hours espcially because its listed on the app but this 2,500Total time seems to have come from no where.

Keep in mind this is a recruiting event, not necessarily mins to apply.

As hiring returns (slows) to a normalized pace from all-time highs, competitive mins will go up.

What’s everyone’s opinions on the possibility of officially requiring a degree again in the future? I know that DL would like that and that hiring is normalizing, but at the same time I feel like you can’t put that toothpaste back in the tube.

Ok, how do you "know" and who is DL? (the BOD, CEO, COO, VP FLTops, CPO, you, me, anonymous unrevealable ALPA poll)

DL pilot recruiting has always said this explicitly. One such example was in a video that Captain Holmes put out when he was head of hiring. He specifically said Delta Pilot Selection loved the requirement, said it was a valuable metric for predicting future success, and is just something that’s part of the Delta hiring culture.

Obviously those principles were compromised when they needed every warm body they can get.

I think that one came from above. It’s my understanding that was a Delta wide corporate change that jobs could not require a degree unless it was shown a degree was needed by someone in that job. Since that is obviously not a requirement to hold an ATP it got dropped.

The old days of a 4 year degree were to narrow the field only. My basket weaving degree has done nothing for my career. The "kids" I advise shouldn't have to pay to play just 'cause... Over a decade ago masters degrees were all the rage. A PHD requirement could get even better pilots I'll guess.

All I'm saying is at some point we want real world experience, not student experience.

I am in agreement with you. I’m not personally arguing the merits of these degrees. I’m arguing what Delta has claimed they value.

based on the taxi incident at ATL today they may want to rethink that metric.

Nah, they’ll change that and say you now need a PhD. A bachelor’s and even a master’s isn’t enough. Gotta raise the bar.
