DL Hiring: New Process
#5011
I’m not aware of any minimum requirements changing. The average lately has been ~4000 hours, but keep in mind that’s an average. Lots of folks get hired with almost half that, especially military types.

Thanks for the response! I'm a former mil guy who likely needs to keep building time at the regionals but might be approaching "competitive" mins (400hrs PIC in C-17, ~1400 multi turbine). Light on total time (just over 1500) and working on recency after a long break in flying for a resolved medical reason.

Check the "Delta Air Lines Pilot Recruiting" Facebook page. They did say that the minimums increased in their recent video.

That's the million dollar question at the moment. Manager of Pilot Selection states "qualifications and experience required to be competitive have increased." No details/specifics stated, other than general 'move to the left seat and take leadership roles'. Requirements on airlineapps.com haven't changed yet.

However, that is a different thing than minimums to apply. I was referring to the latter and that was the question I thought I was addressing. I would be surprised if they raise the airline apps minimums (to apply), but again the competitive level is different.
If I had to guess, I would say Civilian background needs a little more hours to be competitive than Military does, and heavy more than fighter background. Maybe 3500/3000/2000? Total guess.

Let’s make sure we are all on the same page. I would think everyone expects the minimums to be competitive have increased (to some nebulous point they will likely never release).

Ahh, good point. I see what you are saying now. Sorry, it’s been a while since I’ve looked at that page. 😂
