Before this devolves into a gun debate, I think choosing your ideal airline over a political stance as opposed to pay rates, commute policy, contract is beyond dumb.
So you align with an airline because they're for ABC today. Then the CEO leaves tomorrow and the next guy is all about XYZ. You gonna leave over that?

You forgot a word in your description. It was for an anti gun violence march in support of the schoolkids shot at Parkland High School.
I don't think being opposed to gun violence is the same as being anti-gun. I'm a gun owner so not anti-gun however I am opposed to gun violence, as I think most rational people probably are.
I'm sure there are people and 'news' sources that would interpret the flights as being anti-gun, however. We all see the world through the lenses we choose.

However the purpose of the D.C. March was a political call for more gun control, not less violence.
"The march had three primary demands: Pass a law to ban the assault weapons; Stop the sale of high-capacity magazines; Implement laws that require background checks on all gun purchases, including online and at gun shows."
"One of the things we've been hearing is that it's not the time yet to talk about gun control," [junior organizer] Kasky said. "So here's the time that we're going to talk about gun control: March 24."
Not sure why DAL felt obligated to provide free charters while claiming to be "neutral."

Timeline and concerns
Hey everyone. New to the forum but I've appreciated the information I've read here.
I submitted my application Dec. 9th and haven’t heard anything. I’m concerned about the current slowdown in hiring and my lack of recent flying. Got out of the military 18 months ago and have only been flying GA (10 hours total in last year). Here's some info:
MIL pilot with 4000+ total time
3800 TT/PIC
Current ATP and Med
No check ride failures
Spotless record and bachelors degree
6 DL pilot referrals
How long have folks been waiting after application submission to hear something?
Anybody in my same boat with low recency hours?

-App not reviewed/ don't have all the right buzzwords and formatting in there.
-Recency
In the past there have been discussions about it here and I can't pinpoint the exact post but recency is for sure something they look at. By the way if/when you interview make sure you have a good answer for this 18 month break, almost 100% chance they ask.

AFAIK, your stats should land you solidly in the top tier (other than recency), and result in a call soon. As others have said, with a slowdown/normalization in hiring, it may take a little longer to percolate to the top of that list to get the invite.
All that said, particularly with lower recency, I would strongly recommend putting in your apps to LCC and regional airlines as well. Many mil pilots with lower recency have had to take that route, and gotten a call very quickly upon reaching 100 hours.
Best of Luck.

Thanks
Thanks for the replies. I figured it would be a little slower after the announcement in Jan. If/when the board asks, I've been a military simulator instructor these past 18 months but that doesn't help my flight hours. I had not been looking at regionals, but if it helps my case I am definitely not scoffing it. If the wait becomes too long I will expand my search and hopefully get on with a quality 121 to get back to more normal flying recency and currency. Any recommendations on higher quality regionals/LCCs and ones to avoid?

This is from an article on the front page of yesterday's WSJ. Apparently Delta was serious and is hiring pilots without a college degree at about the same rate as those with a degree. Good for DAL.
"Out of more than 7,500 applicants, Delta has interviewed around 150 people without four-year degrees for pilot jobs, and 70% of them have gotten job offers, around the same offer rate as degree-holders, Hendrick said.
“There’s no trend that shows anyone with a college degree doing better than anyone without a degree in any of our assessments,” he said."

As an actual issue, I've been degree agnostic or even "anti-degree" when the rubber meets the road on this issue, particularly considering how corrupt the entire "Big Edu" industry has become.
Its time to relegate "college at all costs" to the ash heap of history. Its simply not needed in the vast majority of cases and often times is a net setback and financial liability as a start contrast to the "investment in education" hyperbole.
