Last fall it was happening a good bit, I even got mine moved up about 2 months. Word on the streets is they cracked down on that and are no longer re-assigning earlier dates. Feel free to call and find out for yourself.

Hi all. I'm sure my chances are slim to none at this point with the slow down, but wanted to get some opinions regardless:

1600 TT
600 turbine SIC (all 135 time, no 121)
CFI
Internal rec
App professionally reviewed
Will have an A220 type and hit the line at my new company in a little over a month

Seems like maybe 6 months ago I would have had a shot at around the 2000 TT mark, but what about now?

Please dont yell at me.

Thanks!

Go get some time at Breeze. Keep your app updated. You'll get a call when you get a call.

It’s really hard to predict right now, as it’s a rapidly changing landscape. Put in your app, and best of luck.

Default Interview

Has anyone interviewed this year, yet? I'm going on 2/6 and would like some recent feedback on the HR/Panel Interview portion. Thanks!

”Slowdown” is all relative. If we hire 1100 this year, that would be the most hired in a year in the last ~ 25 years if you exclude 2022 and 2023.

Still a lot of movement…still a lot of retirements on the horizon. Keep your app updated as you get some time at your new job (I assume Breeze?) and it will happen.

Wolf's not wrong. This is just for more context for those lurking... Here are the number of people currently on the Seniority List (SL) hired in each year - actual hiring was slightly more, but we've had a handful leave here and there. In 2008 and earlier, it's much harder to quantify, but the totals were way under 1100/yr. (The NWA and DAL merger muddied the SL. The most junior 2008 hire is 56XX, and the most senior 2000 hire is 32XX on the SL). The SL is just over 17,000.

2009: 0
2010: 218
2011: 0
2012:0
2013:0
2014: 945
2015: 891
2016: 1192
2017: 1050
2018: 545 (with a 6 month pause in hiring due to 'scheduling efficiencies' - a huge mistake)
2019: 465
2020: 385 (Jan-Mar. Covid stopped hiring for 15 months)
2021: 782 (Starting in late Jun)
2022: 2335
2023: 2416
2014: ? (Supposedly ~1100)

So you can see, when they ARE hiring, the default hiring 'rate' over the past decade+ is about 1000-1100/year, barring a reason to pause or catch-up in hiring.

One thing is certain, you can't get hired if you don't have your app in. Keep updating it every 2-4 weeks until you get the call. Go to OBAP/WIA/NGPA events. Get an internal 'rec'. Do everything you can to get the call. Good luck!

Default How hire-able

I am wondering how competitive my times would be with the current landscape. I am at the dreaded SkyWest, I know my best option is to go somewhere else rather than stick it out any longer, but I really want to avoid a lateral jump as much as I can.

TT:3600
PIC:2000
Turbine PIC:1100
4 Internal Recs
Some volunteer experience

I’d say quite competitive.

Whether it would be faster to leave for a LCC than stay at OO is another question, and I’m not the best equipped to answer that one.
