This.

I know 2 candidates who had the same (very minor) circumstance in their past. Both were asked about it. One got defensive and the other remained calm and answered the question smoothly. Only one got a job offer and it was the latter. This should suprise no one.

Some get all wrapped around the axle at the most obvious (and the most minor) of "bad cop" interview vibes or anything said to "deduct points", not to mention totally suprised and almost situationally disoriented by it. I bet that is viewed as a less desireable characteristic than the easy alternative of remaining calm and rolling with it.

Having a helmet fire in an air conditioned room at 1G and zero knots over a routine and expected question (that you can easilly turn into a growth arc "teachable moment" that actually benefits you as an applicant) just might correlate to a downline predictor of how someone handles an actual stressful moment in a more relevant environment.

Same for some of the "Kobayashi Maru" flying scenario questions. Much of it is how you handle it, not just if you come up with the one and only one perfectly scripted answer.

Or maybe not. Maybe its all just interview gamesmanship. Cool. All the more reason to know its coming and roll with it, and those who don't clearly show they are unprepared at the very least.

Can anyone shed any light on the new recommendation process? Does having more than one LOC through airline apps mean anything, or is that even possible? Also does airline apps also mean your app gets scored like it did through the old system?

Dang, I had a sub 3.0 GPA (in Aviation no less lol) and it never came up in the interview. ...Ummm I prioritized fun of academics at a young age. Now I prioritize fun over work...not sure I "learned my lesson."

I listened in on the Delta pilot hiring talk that was hosted through NGPA yesterday. With regards to recommendations, the Delta rep said one LOR from a Delta pilot is enough. I didn't hear anything specific about the scoring, they only mentioned they take a "wholistic view" of the candidate.

My understanding is that having a current Delta pilot submit a rec for someone over airlineapps from their Delta email address will result in the app getting scored. No more email to the selection team. Moral of the story, don't fill out a rec and send it to airlineapps until your friend has finished their app and crossed the t's and dotted the i's.

3.89 and it never came up either. Dang, I was hoping to get some “look at me” time too. I went the easy route though, B.B.A. and pilot training. Probably a good thing, I don’t do boastful well. Humble and happy to have the opportunity worked for me.

Hey did I mention 3.89 and deans list all 4 years. But alas, no TPS. Mom never hugged me either so now I’m just looking for attention and admiration.

Mother told me I would be a failure, too. Just like her. She new it. When she passed away at age 94, she wanted on her tombstone, “See, I told you there was something wrong with me.” Incidentally, she died of, as they used to say, old age and infirmaries.

Not huffy and/or defensive, was just wondering if there was a hardcore "you are too stupid to train" attitude there. Especially with the urban legend of "nobody with over 10,000 hours can be trained" that seemed to circulate a couple years ago.

So if I have one on file with a DAL email address that should spark a scoring? What if it’s been on file for a month or so? Need to resubmit? Second question, would a non-pilot rec from a DAL address spark a scoring? My dads been with Delta since 82 but is a flight dispatcher.

Just email Ed. He said he wants to hear from people as long as you’re kind.

I think anything from an delta.com email would work. There is nothing on an email address here to distinguish a CEO/pilot/station manager as far as I know.
