Interesting response. I guess if something doesn't meet your standards, you are OK with lowering the standards. What is fascinating about this is that it seems you are assigning quality with income. In other words, just because you make minimum wage, that is somehow an excuse to do a crappy job. Not me. I wasn't raised that way. But none of that was my point. You extrapolated what I said into a rant against the 'lower' class and somehow me complaining about my lot in life. I am very happy where I am right now, but I think we as a country and company can do so much better.

How many times have you swore at the rampers because they didn't meet your airplane when you taxied in? You know as well as I that you have, and you are lying if you said otherwise. But mediocrity is acepted.

My problem is with corporations using WuFlu, or whatever 'crisis' presents itself as an excuse for crappy service. For example: do you really think it is true that "due to higher than normal call volumes..." you should be on hold for hours? Really? It is not a new phenomena. It has been going on for so long that you have accepted it as normal. Just THINK about that message. If it is true, business must be absolutely stratospheric because they have been saying that for years. Why not hire some more phone talent? Why not find another solution? No... they know people (like you) will 'accept' mediocrity. I guess the upside is that you are much happier about it than I, but I find it sad more than anything. We used to be a country of excellence.

It isn’t really that complicated. We had record employment before the pandemic. Those people certainly didn’t care enough how they were treated to stay unemployed. So why now? Certainly there are a very small segment that might be “scared” of the virus, but the biggest variable is the the government giving many more $$ than they might make at a min wage job or ones that pay well above that. (Plus other things like free ACA healthcare). To pretend that is not the major driver of the labor shortage right now is disingenuous.

How many here would go to work if we were given a check that exceeded what we normally make for going to work?

This is coming from somebody who did every $5 an hour job imaginable on the way up.

Correct. One is a Federal holiday and the other isn't.

Also, one you are expected to honor every day. You are expected to give discounts. You are required to give preferential hiring. We fund an entire organization dedicated to their health and welfare.

The other one gets a parade once a year and the continued threat of having your rights revoked and not so subtle but legal threats against employment
