I definitely don’t want to do more regional type flying since that’s what I just left.

If I lived there it would have been a no brainer, but NYC is an easy commute as well, just not drivable. Good points all around though and I definitely appreciate the counsel from all. Wish there was access to more information before selecting equipment you’re initially locked into for two years…
1. This is a no brainer if being in ATL is your number one goal - 717.
2. You don’t want to do regional type flying? Guess what? 73 and 320 are doing some/ a lot of that.
3. Sounds? To me like you have SJS - in which case the 717 must not be where you want to be.
4. What information are you looking for that you do not have?
5. Still not clear to me - will you be on property to bid the AE before it is closed?

As a recent new hire bidder who lives in ATL who could have held ATL717 and NYC320, 7ER, 73N I can tell you why I chose an NYC category:

1) Year one pay is the same, but year two pay is an extra $1000 per month just at min guarantee.

2) With the company wanting to pack 2000 people in behind me in very short order, there’s no way I won’t have the chance to bid to ATL very soon.

3). No doubt there’s plenty of 1 hour legs and 4 leg days (some fivers too) in the 73N bid pack, but there is absolutely zero transcon and island flying in the 717 bid pack.

4) 320 and 73N are growing. 717 is less than growing in the bigger picture.

So people who are saying you should get paid a minimum of $1000 less a month in a category with no growth and no west coast flying or island all-inclusives just for a few months (or maybe even less) of not positive space commuting to NYC and to go to another IQ in two years to get those things back, to me, are being a bit myopic.

Still though, 717 is going senior in Indoc just because ATL. I think it’s not a great choice unless you just want to fly the 717 which is A-OK.

Not number one goal, but definitely long-term goal. I wouldn’t say I have SJS; but I would say there’s some importance there as a factor in the decision making process. I guess bid packets, seniority flow in NYC vs ATL (potential/kinetic movement in relative seniority), things of that nature. With 717 fat on FO’s what’s the estimated time to a line? Does a potential line in NYC outweigh longer reserve in ATL?

I've already submitted my bid for aircraft, it’s just tough when you get 24 hours to submit and don’t have a ton of useful intel to make an informed decision.

I will be on property prior to this AE closure.

Also, for anyone reading this thread in the future, if you have your employee number/PPR, and you’ve started onboarding tasks, YOU HAVE ACCESS TO DELTANET.

Go to Deltanet>My Division>Crew Resources/Scheduling

There you can see the monthly bid packages for all categories as well as monthly bid awards. You can see how junior lines go, and you can see exactly how everybody bid and whether they got it. You are not going into your bid with as little information as you think. You just don’t know where to look.

Hello everyone, from the latest class drops seems like LAX is on the more senior side. What would your best estimate be for someone in the next month new hire class to be able to hold LAX A320 or 737?
Thank you very much

probably on the first or second AE after you are hired. July had unfilled spots on both 320 and 73N out there, I’m guessing October will as well.

Problem is they run AEs whenever they feel like and it sounds like this will most likely be the last one until Q1 of 2022. And once you are actually awarded your new position they have 7 months (or In some cases a full year) to actually convert you to your new category.

I know this is a vague response but it’s the best info I have
