DL made a super move getting those 33 jets from LionAir. Pennies on the dollar I bet, and available faster than new builds. Have to hand it to the fleet peeps, they’re doing a good job.

United has been saying this for over a decade. I don’t think it will ever happen unless the regionals go away.

Kirby was also at AA prior to United and helped contribute to their massive debt headache. I wouldn’t trust everything that he’s doing to be a good thing.

Anyone remember the flaps 0 “increased performance” DC-9/MadDog takeoffs? Heavy widebody?

Runway behind you and all that…mostly curious because I had a new FO ask why the other day and I wasn’t quick enough to make something up on the fly.
Pretty sure it’s to get domestic narrow body traffic out while sequencing the wide bodies that need full length since they have to generally time those departures with the north side.

ATL is very efficient and mostly predictable, though 28 does come out of nowhere at times. Whole heartedly agree the terminals/food/employees make it a pain to fly through. Mix in plane swaps, reroutes and taking forever to get to an overnight van I’d prefer to stay away from ATL.

NYC is fine, until you get on the ground, then it’s a fairly miserable experience till you take off again.

28 makes perfect sense, you get it when you’re late, going into a quick turn or a plane swap, and it’s time to eat!

Or it's the last leg and you have a tight commute...

There is an often used acronym BWYW, WWYB. "Bid What You Want, Want What You Bid." (I know, I know, EVERYONE knows this, but I state it for those who don't)

With the new process being put together your preference list and 'find out on day 1', look over your options and BWYW, WWYB.

Personal experience: SS# 04XX (Plug of my class, plug of the airline) I got 7ER (my dream plane). Converted to base of my choice in less than a year (back when the 7ER was in my base).

Bidding is an emotional process. Never assume that there is any logic in the system and never assume you can 'game' the system. You can strategize all you want, but make sure when all is said and done that you prioritize your 'wants' and know that, worst case, you might get something less-than-desirable and will need to hang out for a bit.
So you're saying there's a chance!

Thanks

is it just me or has ground/ramp sounded noticeably snippier the last couple months? Especially ground. Dunno if the increase in volume into terminal 4 and the ramp handoff cluster F has them flustered or something.

More entertaining too....except for the rare outburst from Capt Happy, of course.

If someone gets ATL 7ER, the bus or 73N how long would it take swap bases to NYC? I know there’s a 2 years seat lock for equipment but is there’s a base lock?
