Some NB trips have become 4-leg, 12 hour overnights for 4-5 days straight with a red eye in the middle to a 10 hour day layover so it’s either RJ-style trips with a mid rotation red eye or wide bodies, relaxing, one and done kind of trips.

Unless our pilot group is completely nuts, I’d bet wide bodies will be going to 4+ year pilots on this next AE so basically the question shouldn’t be “WB vs NB FO”, it should be “NB FO vs NB CA” for new hire openings. This is all just my opinion.
We've had this discussion before, in the AE thread, post 1757. The PWA does not allow street Captains. FO only. 22.E.10

I think 330 is still going to new hires in NYC. Growing fleet, retirements are ramping up. As long as that keeps happening it’s not going to suddenly flop the other way imo. Not as long as we still have these wild A postings coming. But regardless you’ll still be bottom 80% for a while.

I know there is no way of knowing, but I have to say that is probably my biggest hang up on leaving where I am. I fear being stuck on the 737 which I hate, or the 717 and have the fast upgrades come to a halt. Does anyone have an idea the SSN assigned on some of the last drops. Trying to judge where I might fall, but again, I know it's based on the SSN in my class. How feasible is it to get a 320 out of any base (prefer DTW) with a low SSN based on how planes have been assigned in the past classes?
DTW 717 is a pretty good spot to be in your first year or two, especially if you want DTW. Theres always movement because its a revolving door of people bidding off after their first or second year, plus we're bringing back 20ish 717's back from the desert so theres that movement as well. The flying is pretty repetitive and you'll never go west of Kansas, but thats the only bad thing I can say about it.

Default Lowest SSN In A Class

Hi, I know each class is different but I was wondering what my choices for base and aircraft will be if my SSN starts with a 0? I'm assuming I'm going to be last in my class.

It varies with the class. Generally it would be something in NYC or sometimes the 717 in ATL or DTW drops very low as well.

I live in NY so NYC won't be that bad for me, but what airplane tends to be "left over", and why is it the last pick?

Honestly it's impossible to say. All class drops are different and have mixes of people from east/west coast and Midwest. The only somewhat universal constant is NYC positions rarely get picked first unless it's locals. There have been class drops in the past with no NYC slots. It all really depends on your specific class and what you get offered

It's a complete roll of the dice. In my class all the 0s got NYC ER, the one after was DTW 717. Bid what you want, want what you bid, and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you're in NYC it's very possible you may end up with one of your higher choices depending on where your classmates are trying to go. Especially if it's a west coast heavy class.

In my class, the leftover was the 73.
