I’d just go off what they say in the 3-6 month timeframe. Anything 12mo+ they simply just don’t know. And the airline is running at redline before summer has even started…

Lots of categories have an extra X-day, which is not normal. Including lots of A’s. They have deliberately raised the reserve levels, partially through putting many hundreds of SLI’s back on the line for the summer.
Flight Ops thinks they have the ‘problem’ locked for the summer. We shall see. I’m not as confident as they are.

A's = captain positions, B = First Officer position.
SLIs = Seniority List Instructors, in other words sim guys who are hired from the line to teach, as opposed to hiring non-seniority list instructors who are not pilots on the seniority list and cannot fly the line.

However, each vacancy bid (called an AE - Advanced Entitlement) resets the “pool” of positions which can be offered to NH’s. This is because all positions must be offered to those on property first, and the “leftovers” go to New Hires. New AE = new list of NH possibilities.
There are many who believe the days of WB’s going to NH’s are going to end soon, for various reasons. Historically, with the exception of the 767-400 in NYC, it has taken 8-10ish years to hold WB B. It will not go that far ‘up’ DOH-wise, as we have had half the seniority list hired in the last 8 years, and it didn’t take 50% in the company to hold WB B. Regardless, the WB vacancies will likely be gobbled up before they go vacant going forward. IMHO.
So, I wouldn’t count on it. It was good for some while it lasted.
As for upgrade times, those may stay relatively junior. We have had probationary pilots get awarded some Captain positions. I think it will trend a little more senior to that going forward, but still be available at the 2-3 year point. That’s a soft prediction though, as it’s really anyone’s guess. Lots of demographic changes with Covid which may throw historic norms out the window.
Good luck.

Not trying to sound like a douche (but I know it will), but did you even look back through this thread? There are numerous posts every week where people post what aircraft have been awarded to each class. Then a few posts later people start asking for the list in order to see what the junior person got. This repeats just about every week for every indoc class. You can not only see when those aircraft were last awarded, but how many of each were awarded.
The answer to your questions have been posted if you just take a little time to search.

There has been a period going on a year where this has happened, yes.
