you’ll likely never hold much widebody intl flying on it out of ATL as a captain, and even in nyc will be primarily domestic or reserve if you upgrade. Any bigger widebody captain is unlikely with that much time left.

Now if you are asking about The 765 category, never say never, but I wouldn’t plan on you ever seeing the left side of that machine.
Congrats and good luck with the interview!

If a June AE happens and I have just attended indoc on May 16th and was awarded DTW 717B, can I only bid a different base on the AE due to a seat lock, or is anything open since I have not yet started the training syllabus?

You can switch bases (ATL in your case) on the 717 immediately if your seniority can hold it.

Correct. You are seat locked for 24 months, and cannot switch equipment until after 1 year at the earliest, and then only if you switch to a base you cannot hold the 717 in (or upgrade to captain). By the time you actually train and convert, it may be well past 1 year. PWA 22.G.2

Not that AE, but the effective lock would be 12 months. Likewise if you awarded A330 in NYC you'd be able to bid SEA 73N after 12 months since you couldn't hold 330 in SEA. The rule is you can't hold it, not that it doesn't exist.

Its unlikely, but the company can break seat locks at their discretion. So you can BID whatever you want whenever you want. No one should limit their bid just because they’re under a seat lock. Let the company sort out if they want to break your lock with a new award or not.
But I would have zero expectation for a NH to get that approved before even starting IQ.
