FWIW I wish we had a better way of requesting theatre quals than the garbage icrew option.

Unlikely. I have no problem with new guys pond hopping but your hypothetical dude must’ve gotten hella lucky on TOE to have both a true ocean crossing and a sympathetic LCA as some won’t award theatre quals during initial. If you don’t hit the lottery you’re screwed. Too junior to hold Europe during PBS (which isn’t breaking 5000 anywhere right now) = no pond crossing even with your senior captain calling out sick.

Why is the Standards department the gatekeepers for whether a reserve pilot can fly international flights, and why don't they have any oversight?
This business with "you'd have to get lucky to get that checkout" is total nonsense. Do we have a union or not? Anyone qualified in the seat should also be qualified in the theaters their aircraft flies. Especially if they're on reserve and could get called to fly anywhere. This is just more Delta "this is the way we've always done it/kiss the good ol' boys asses to get what you want" BS.

Did you have anything to add to the convo, or just an attack?

You are the one that stated, “This is just more Delta "this is the way we've always done it/kiss the good ol' boys asses to get what you want" The fact is this isn’t the way we’ve always done it. The fact is also that you were the one on the attack. Just facts.

I would expect a mix of everything still as they try spread out training. There have been about 5-10 717s, 10-15 320s, 10-15 737s, 5-10 7ERs, 2-3 765s, 2-3 220s, and 1-2 330s. I would expect these numbers to continue, even as we near the next AE. A lot of folks don’t want NYC so expect the 330/765 out there to continue to go unfilled over the next year or so. 717s will always be a junior plane like the mad dog was but remember there’s no NYC so for some it’s better than the wide bodies due to the base options right out of training. The 350 will definitely go unfilled after the June AE due to pay banding and China. I expect the July-December classes to have 2-3 350 openings in every class. This is just my opinion!
