New Hire Class Drops

The company offers a list of positions available for bid, but there are no firm numbers. Sometimes the list will have a lot of variety of bases and fleets, sometimes the list will just be 3 fleets in NYC. Everyone in the class ranks their choices from first to last. The company then works their way down the class in seniority order trying to give people their highest choice while still meeting the needs of the airline and training capacity. Obviously the lower your seniority you might get stuck with your least favorite choice, but sometimes it works out that you'll get your top choice too. It is impossible to predict and is just a factor of what positions are offered vs where all the class lives and what each person wants.

Probably subjective but I’ll be very senior in my NH class,
Hoping to get 765 jfk for commutability. How is the commute from Dca - jfk? I think bidding international may work out better than 73 or 7ER out of jfk assuming the 765 is mostly later starts.

765 will be a lot of repetitive trips and slower seniority growth.
If you’re commuting to NYC and want to fly international, 7ER is essentially the leisure route gem of this airline. If you want to go to London and Paris 30x a year, bid 765

7ER in NYC will have a massive amount of Europe variety to a lot better overnights, almost always commutable and easy to build seniority.

Meh. I’d go to London every day for an extra 40K a year rather than stay on the ER. I’m bidding off the ER when my lock is up. I hold a decent all international line in NYC. The variety is not keeping me on here. Also the OP is going to have to wait a bit before holding a decent international line on the ER. For the first year-year and an half expect mostly domestic except for maybe the summer or you can work international on thanksgiving and Christmas because senior guys don’t want those trips.
