When do we get access to Deltanet? Is it when we start indoc or before? Thanks

Hey folks thanks for all the info on this thread, it’s been very helpful. I’ve got an interview with DAL coming up and I just wanted to throw out a few questions of my own regarding a/c and bases and commuting. I’ve got a high SSN and I’d be commuting from OKC, so ATL would be my first choice of bases.

- Any thoughts on which a/c in ATL would be best for commuting? Are all the NB’s pretty much the same as far as junior schedules? How long until you’ve got enough seniority to trade/drop/add and try to combine trips to reduce the number of commutes each month?

- I’ve seen the NYC 765 in several of the recent drops. If I were awarded that, how much seniority would I need until I could hold ATL? What would commuting from OKC to NYC be like on the 765 schedules? Would a 2-hop commute to a 765 in NYC be better/worse than a 1-hop commute to ATL on a NB? How many trips per month are the 765’s flying out of NYC and ATL? Do the 765’s fly out of all 3 airports in NYC?

- It sounds like upgrade times are getting pretty short, even in ATL. If I were to shoot for NB CA in ATL as soon as possible (1-2 yrs), how long would QOL suck, and would moving to the ATL area at that point help any?

Lots of what-if’s, but I appreciate any input. Thanks!

ATL765 junior pilot is 12/2019 hire. Seeing the new TA pay band the 765 to 350 pay rates, I can see more senior 7ER pilots swapping over to 765 especially since their bid packets are turning back to a 90%+ international fleet. As a new hire you have better odds of seeing ATL350 than 765. A lot of older NW FO’s refuse to swap to Airbus and don’t want that long of haul. I wouldn’t plan on ATL765 for a few years at least. I may be wrong and this data changes but as of right now you have better chances at 330/350

To add on to what was said above, no way would I sign up for a 2-leg commute for 12+ months minimum (assuming you can't hold ATL765). Yes you're going to get later starts but you could be junior on reserve for most/all of that time and even with an 18 hour callout you're going to have some very tricky commutes. Plus after doing a 6 day trip with 4 ocean crossings, you'll have to drag yourself somehow back to OKC, and if that's 2 legs that just seems miserable to me.

1) drive to work if able
2) if can’t drive, take one leg commute over two
3) generally speaking, smaller plane equal quicker rise in seniority. Less pay is generally the reason, but based on your screen name, I assume you are a Fighting Falcon driver…if you have a pension, the check of the month club means you don’t have to chase the higher paying airplane.
4) International rotations, assuming senior enough to hold them, are more commutable than domestic

Maybe about a month prior to indoc you'll get an email with your employee number, PPR, and information to set up your account. You'll have limited access until you actually show up, but enough to set up your pass riders, start your 401(k) and view bid packets and awards.

How do new hires bid for aircraft and base? Do they choose out of every aircraft and base or is it just the ones the company is trying to fill?

Company gives a list of aircraft and bases that new hires rank in their preferred order. They have to be positions left unbid from an AE bid.

An AE is a systemwide aircraft bid for active pilots
