Thanks for pointing that out. Going through my first seasonal shift here and still learning the lay of the land.

The Airbus is a vastly more comfortable and pilot-friendly aircraft if that matters to you.

I’ve been on the 737 for just over a year and can generally hold weekends and holidays off while avoiding redeyes. Overnights are typically short and the Hawaii flying is all 320 these days, though Mexico is relatively common on the 73.. We’ll see what the future holds…

Don’t discount the 7ER which does show up in the drop on occasion.
320s and 319s won't be around forever either. 737MAX order specifically stated replacing the 320s.

Max order isn't due for another 3 years. The -800s will time out by then which makes it a good chunk of replacements. 319s can go though

the -800’s are here for at least 10 more years..in fact they are getting upgraded winglets right now. Lots of growth on the 73 fleet through the end of the decade.

Slight nuance to the announcement though, that if demand neccecitated it, the (ancient) 320's could be kept on beyond the Max deliveries. I believe a decision has been made to retrofit the CRT's with LCD's and a few other small-ish updates...

The 800s are on average younger than the 320s.

Check out the Fleet Information doc in Deltanet. You can look at every tail number and their delivery date. 33 A320s are about +30y (1990- Mar 1993). The second tranch were delivererd in '97-99'. So for all intents, the entire 320 fleet age will average >30 years by the time the first Max arrives.

The 319s were delivered '99-'02. Avg age hits >30 in 2031. CASM is higher than 737-800, which is a big factor in retiring jets.

738 fleet '98-'02 deliveries. 6 ex Gol '10-'14. Fleet avg age almost identical to 319.
