Also just wondering of the 50ish people in class what percentage usually get the aircraft they want (not necessarily the base).
You will learn the correct (Delta) way to operate the A320 if you get it. It may be more advantageous to start fresh on another airplane. I had a 737 type (-200 years ago) and I don't think any of the procedures were correct according to Delta. My LUV and AAL 737 buds think we do things all wrong BTW.

We don’t do it the wrong way, we do it the only way.

Ask the manufacturers…

I’ve flown with a number of guys who were project pilots bringing the 717s over from AirTran and they’ve said those guys raised their eyebrows on a few ways Delta decided to do things. Especially the whole “take it out of PROF and put it into FPA down to mins” just so we can be Delta standard with other fleets and set missed approach alt by 1000 ft.

And making the engine starting process as manual as possible when it was designed to be as automatic as possible.

Now I have to stop talking 717 before I have flashbacks.

I flew it at citrus. My first engine start in the sim, "JUST PULL IT" from the instructor. "What's with you guys wanting to do and check everything else, we're starting an engine not building the airplane!" I couldn't believe it was that easy.

I still can't believe how easy it is to start the Panda.

Now you have my curiosity, was it designed to turn the fuel switch on immediately after pulling the starter? Would make a lot of sense seeing as the fadec ignores me when I raise the fuel switch anyways.

Can't answer. Triggers flashbacks.

I had a mentee a few years ago who came from Spirit and got the 320 in his drop. He still went through the full course. He said he was a little surprised at some of the differences in procedures. One example was at Spirit they had to verbalize every single FMA change. Small differences, but still… Getting the ‘new’ procedures into your brain was a lot more worthwhile in the full course than he thought.

And if you get something else, you will absolutely need the full course. No question about it. There is more than just flows and V1 cuts when coming to a new airplane at a new airline Or air line.

P.S. I echo what Buck said. You may not have meant your post come come across as entitled, but it kinda did. So be aware of that if you go to any other airline. Humility goes a long way.
