Really an amazing drop. Congrats 12/6 class - up there with some of the best drops I’ve seen. Long gone are the days of 30 NYC MD88, 4 ATL MD88 drops! Good riddance..!

So from reading on here the preferences are based off of the last four of your SSN. Just to confirm, if you already have an A320 rating from a ULCC and then do not get assigned the A320 in your drop there is nothing you can do and will just have to learn to fly the 737 or whatever assigned?

Also just wondering of the 50ish people in class what percentage usually get the aircraft they want (not necessarily the base).

That is correct. What type ratings you show up with are irrelevant to the new hire aircraft assignment process. You’ll have what you can hold.

I fly for a foreign carrier and am an A330 capt. If I get hired by Delta, from reading on here, the preferences are based off of the last four of your SSN. Just to confirm, if you already have an A330 rating and then do not get assigned an A330 Capt in my drop, there is nothing I can do, and will just have to learn to fly the 737 FO or whatever assigned? WTF????

I'm kinda being snarky, but "Come on man". If you leave the ULCC and go to any major airline, you will take what your new seniority entitles you to as far as bids. You leave your previous life at the door as far as bidding.

No, just the first class of each month. 20 per month.

Type ratings mean nothing. Even if you are awarded an aircraft you are typed and current on you’ll still do the full training course as a new hire.

As far as people getting what they want, that can vary from 0-100%. It just depends on the makeup of the class and what options are in the drop. I met a guy who lives out west with a low SSN and he got ATL 717, which was his dead last choice and for good reason since he’s got a horrible commute and can’t switch to anything out west until a bid after he’s been here 12 months. Other times the class plug gets their first choice. You just never know.
