New Hire Class Drops
#3191
This fluctuates so much it would not be a smart way to bid around this as in 3 months it could be completely different than what is was the previous 3 months. All 3 of those fleets are large enough though that you shouldn’t have to worry about the well drying up.
By the way been a long time since anyone has posted numbers or next week class. Anyone got anything ?

Well what that means is that junior pilots aren’t getting called as frequently for them. They’re going to more senior pilots again like they used to.

That being said, I took a member of my family on each of my 48 hour layo’s in AMS. I love getting paid to have dinner in Europe! 14 days of work with only 8 legs for over 80 hours of pay is not a bad quality of life.
My unsolicited advice to my single seat friends, get a 320 and in 2+ years look to get the 330.

Not to be a Debby downer on this but don’t expect to fly much, as in PF. I’m 40% in category, on my two 7 day trips last month I flew 1 leg (TO/LND), and was the PM for 1 landing. The rest I was RFO with first break. That’s usually not the case for me, I just hit a patch of really senior FO’s (could be well below 50% in the left seat!). I can’t imagine being the plug. With that level of frequency it’s difficult to always feel comfortable in any of three positions you could occupy (PF, PM or RFO). Add to that if this is your first 121 experience plus learning DAL operating procedures, it could be a bit of a challenge. Not trying to talk anyone out of it, just a little reality.

I disagree with around 12,000 greenslips it’s still a massive amount that a new hire could see his/her phone ring at least once or twice a month (depending on fleets and base). Also the biggest factor is if you’re bidding line or reserve. If you want a lot of green slips and you’re bidding a line then you’re just doing it wrong and that’s why your phone doesn’t ring (especially since junior lines are mostly working weekends). Not necessarily that the GS pool has dried up.
