I was waiting for that one! Haha
I’m contemplating the possibility of commuting to be able to fly the 757 or 717 before they’re gone. Id love to have either of those types on my certificate. And since I will likely take first available upgrade to make up for the big pay cut from switching airlines, this might be my only chance.

But if your only goal is to fly those two aircraft and upgrade ASAP, you could potentially take either one as a newhire and upgrade to the other after a year. 7ER and then upgrade to 717 will be a more secure route, but I think you could do it other way around too unless things drastically change in the near future.
EDIT: Back to the original topic... when's the next drop? I'm interested to see how many of those WB spots they offer up.

I agree that commuting for the sake of flying a type is folly, especially considering you could be home based (potentially right off the bat) in another aircraft.

A320 INDOC to IQ timeline
I am curious if anyone has an idea of the current timeline from INDOC to ground/sims for the A320?
I start class next week and am excited to have gotten assigned the A320.
Additionally, any ideas on how long it will take to hold a line in ATL?
Thanks in advance for all of your input and help!

For research purposes go to:
Deltanet > Our Company > Flight Operations > Crew Resources/Scheduling > Monthly Bid Awards
Junior lineholder is like 13,5XX
Deltanet > Our Company > Flight Operations > Crew Resources/Scheduling > Category and Staffing Lists
Hired in May this year
Now you know how to fish.

Not sure on most recent timeline but I'd expect 3-6 weeks. A few months to hold a line in ATL most likely. With the amount of open time on the bus though, reserve green slips are very lucrative.
