New Hire Class Drops
#2991
Eh, obviously there are exceptions, but from my class, people I know, 99.9% get a review. I don’t gamble and I didn’t think I’d be .1% so I got mind reviewed. My logic was maybe the $300 to review gets me a months more seniority. Paid off with your first GS.
To each their own, but the risk wasn’t worth it to me.

Agreed. Every “fix it” email is another opportunity that could’ve been an assessment invite, which is another class ahead of you in the hiring wave.
It’s not a guarantee you won’t get a call, but I chuckle at people cheaping out on a few hundred bucks and not getting a review. That’s a pretty silly regret to have if you never get the call/get it later than you would have.
Just my .02.

Not having an app review is basically a guarantee to not get a call. I’m happy to write recs for friends, but the first thing I ask is if they’ve done a review. If they haven’t, there’s no point, they could have 500 recs but likely some glaring error. I always offer to give their app a quick once over myself.

Its like the whole college degree thing, sure it’s not required anywhere, but it certainly helps.
Everybody is coming out of the woodwork to say they didn’t need the app review, but again, we have 14,000+ pilots, I would strongly assume 90-95% of the guys we’ve hired post-merger have had a professional review, especially in the pre COVID hiring world. While we’re hiring 200/month, paying a little bit to get in just a month earlier would be more than worth it to me. It’s your seniority number for the rest of your life.

Thank you for actually understanding what I’m trying to say and not being overly literal

Would you recommend bidding for a wide body straight out of training or starting with something smaller? I’ve heard plenty of mixed opinions

No troll, just wondering. Obviously you're making an allusion to United when you say "this isn't the place to be". What would this be the right place for? I mean what would you say Delta has that you could get here that maybe you cant or will get little of at other airlines when compared to Delta?

People got caught flat footed the last AE because many people didn’t but bids in for positions that were not directly offered on the AE, but opened up due to people bidding out leaving many new positions opened up. Most famously was DTW 350B being available for new hires possibly because eligible bidders just didn’t have it on their bid because those spots weren’t listed on the AE posting.
Basically, bid whatever you want to do. Maybe you’ll get it, maybe you won’t. In the end, as was said on another thread, you won’t get anything if you don’t bid for it, so take those shots.

It was really poorly worded. He's saying anyone here a year has the 1 year seatlock taken care of it their aircraft is not in DTW and could bid for 350 now and is also saying that a lot of pilots forgot what secondary vacancies were and never contemplated a 350 bid on last AE but may have one in now.

Which part do you want elaboration on?
