During the merger negotiations for seniority list integration the NWA negotiators argued that Northwest had more 'super premium' aircraft and therefore NWA pilots should be given higher placement on the combined seniority list.
Those 'super premium' aircraft at the time were the 330 and the 747-400 vs the 767-400 and 777 at DAL.
At least that's how I remember it.

If you look at the S22 the 7ER in NYC has better European routes than the 765 coming up. If you like going to LHR every trip I suppose it’s a good deal. But I don’t think it’s crazy to see it go to new hires. It’s NYC and no one is bidding over to that trip mix, better off just waiting for the 330 deliveries

Yup to each their own. Some new hire going to get a good plane regardless, I wonder how many spots they have. Should check the AE Analysis

If you "can't commute" at all then you'd be taking quite the risk assuming you're giving up a good status quo.
Even if you get it in training, you can always get displaced unexpectedly and for quite a while. That isn't likely to happen with current projections, but it could. Also there is no way to predict what your "class drop" will have. Some drops have no ATL slots.
The magnitude of changing careers is massive, for good or for bad. I suggest you accept the possibility that you could have to commute for a bit. If you can't under any circumstance, think hard about making the jump.
