Their stated goal is to hire at least 200 per month indefinitely. Classes are every week, and they’ve had anywhere from 40-70 per class.

I think that's a decent possibility with the large amounts of Hawaii and transcon flying it sounds like SEA 320 might have. SEA 73N and 220 have been trending junior and will likely stay that way. I would go for one of those.

Comparing the SEA 73N & DTW 73N bases, which is larger and trends more junior?

SEA looks to be far more junior. Someone with 5 years seniority would be 45% in DTW and 14% in SEA in the right seat. With regards to left seat, that same 5 year seniority is about the same for DTW and SEA(95 and 94%, respectively). SEA is about 15% larger than DTW currently.

A few years back I talked to a DL717 crew in EWR. They were NYC, and did almost all their flying out of EWR.
Is it still possible to pref bid much flying out of EWR on any other airframes? Thanks.

EWR varies month to month. Right now the 737 has a lot of Newark flying which goes juniorish. I assume you live in NJ or PA like me. The 220 also has some I think. The bus can have some but it comes and goes and is pretty rare. Before Covid the ER had london, paris and Amsterdam everyday but not anymore. Maybe it will return in time.

I switched from the bus to the ER because Kennedy is generally an easier drive from the south, but the belt parkway can be a doozy and it’s totally random whether or not it’s busy, time of day be damned.

You have to pick the right aircraft. 3-6 years ago it was the 717.

Now it’s the 737.

In two years it could be the 320.

Yes you can bid for EWR trips. But you also have to be on an aircraft that has EWR trips.

Awesome. Thank you.

Would you also be able to share what 5 years seniority would get you in:

DTW 320
DTW 717
SEA 220

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. And yes, I’m in PA at a different airline weighing the options.

Here’s what you have to understand. Today is not going to look like 5 years. Right now, due to the MOAD and the bring everyone back in March and reshuffle in April, there’s a lot of stuff weird, and tons of seat locks. You can try to guess, but it’s really only that.
