As a 7ER pilot commuting from SLC, bid 320/73N/220 and just wait to bid to SLC on an AE. It won't be a long wait and certainly you will not get to SLC any faster bidding something not in SLC (717/7ER) and trying to use the 1 year seat lock release rule. You'll get to slc even later with a longer seat lock on airplane #2 and be gone longer with all the training. Keep it simple. Don't over think it.
Is there an easy way to find what every base has for stationed equipment? As in, what platforms are in SEA, LAX, et al.

Say I get awarded A320 NYC out of indoc but I want SLC. (Any plane but prefer A320) How does the process work for getting back to SLC. Is it easier to switch planes or stay in the same plane or does it not matter? Meaning Is it easier to bid the A320 and transfer to SLC on the A320 or does it not matter say I was a NYC 7ER Pilot it would it take just as long waiting for the next AE (minus going through training again) What is a realistic time frame of me having to commute before I can be awarded a different base?
I live in Seattle, new hire. Would it be unwise to bid on the 320 in LAX/SLC in anticipation that it’ll be coming to SEA? Or is it not recommended to bid anything on company plans/rumors until they are official and delivering (320 to SEA for example). Bottom line, if west coast is available outside of SEA, should I take west coast, any jet, and hope for SEA and jet type swap on the next AE? Apologies up front if I’m mixing peas and carrots; trying to understand the lingo and process.

no matter where you end up, you’ll be able to bid a new category (SEA320) without a freeze. The only real benefit of bidding the 320 now and hoping it opens later is that you’ll avoid a training event. But it comes at the risk of a delay in opening, meaning you’re stuck commuting longer than you could be on the 220 or 737.

The company seems pretty committed to SEA 320, it’s just a matter of when. I’d pick the commute you can live with long-term in a worst-case scenario where they either don’t open it or you can’t hold it for a year or two.

Or perhaps bid SEA 7ER in anticipation of them closing it and getting displaced with no seat lock.

I don’t think there are unfilled SEA 7ER spots, so those won’t be available to a new hire

Fellow Seattle guy, too. IMO, rank your aircraft picks based upon what can get you into SEA at the next AE. Who knows, SEA may even be available from the start as it has been for a few lucky ducks in the last handful of classes! The fastest way in would be the 220 followed by the 737. 320 isn't here, yet, so no way to tell how senior it will be at the start. Cross those fingers

My bad. Haven’t paid that close of attention to the tea leaves lately.

How much of the SEA 7ER flying is going to be picked up by the 321NEO is the real question. If the ER guys want to stick with those type trips, 320 may go relatively senior as they bail.
