Market outlooks change. Government policy clearly affects them both in the past and the future.

I’d like to see how the real estate vs, high frequency trading/options portfolios fare when compared against each other over a fixed, and same, period of time.

The first few posts stayed collegial please don’t ruin that atmosphere with worldview opinions.
I've tried both. Real estate wins.

I started investing in real estate 15 years ago to balance out my market holdings that were concentrated in retirement accounts. I started investing in traditional market assets in 1992. Over that timeframe I've put more of my W2 into stocks, options, 401k, IRA etc. than I have into real estate. Employer match and Delta DC is not included in that amount, so it's even a more lopsided toward market assets. Real estate is 10x the market assets as of today. Real estate also provides spendable income before turning 59 1/2.

Delta, Disney and many others could stand to take a lesson form Air Jordan.

Not even close. Real Estate wins by a mile. Its hard to scale high frequency trading/options and doing it with leverage is just deadly to your financial health

Know any large well-functioning societies that operate without taxes?

America became the largest economy in the world without an income tax. Surely you don’t enjoy working 3-4 months every year just to pay your tax bill. I don’t, especially when our government is totally incompetent. Our schools are terrible, we don’t have border protection, we have cities like Minneapolis stealing millions and millions from the federal government with outright corruption and we spend endlessly on unjust wars. At this point I think it would be better if we tried to at least shrink our taxes and thus our government.

Do you know any large well functioning societies that operate well WITH taxes? America became largely what it is with effectively a 0% tax rate. I answered your question, answer mine. Do you enjoy working 3-4 months every year to pay your local/county/state/federal tax bill?

Ok, but what's the alternative? Full privatization? Sugesting the government doesn't have the citizen's best interest in mind and then turning around and pretending like the "invisible hand of the market" is gonna protect consumers and force corporations to have our best interest in mind feels equally if not more delusional.
