LOA 20-04 MEC approves counter

Same. I’m NYC 73NB, was flying up to Nov 1st. I didn’t go UNA, but I went NQAT since the company didn’t send me to CQ. I guess the company didn’t want to send folks in the 1941 to CQ that would be furloughed, so they let many of us go overdue. Now I’m sidelined until SRQ. Maybe I’ll get Thanksgiving off 🤷🏻.

I think a lot of people are underestimating the amount of lost pay/concessions in this LOA and especially for those who really have no option to pick up.
The company saves roughly $130million for the year paying the 1721 30 hours to stay home. Every single WS and GS reduces that savings dollar for dollar. If you argue you can pick up to make yourself whole realize if every pilot picked up 1 one day white slip for 10 months you pretty much wipe out all the company’s savings. If it’s a 2 day or a GS drop it to only 6 pickups over the year. For a group that believes that the company planned out ways to squeeze the pilots out of every nickel do you believe they signed off on this AIP to save less than a $100 million literally a day after EB on the TH said pilots had only saved the company $100 million over the last 6 months?

If the company was strictly trying to cut costs they would just furlough away. They want to reduce costs as much as possible while still be able to ramp up quickly on the back end. Our management is willing to pay a certain cost to that. Our complex fleet also greatly complicates this whole issue.
The important point to remember is that we will not know how successfully Delta and all the other airlines cope with the Covid situation until we are looking back. It is impossible to analyze while we are still going through it.
I have seen guys complain on here about how great the American early out program was and that DAL was blowing us off in this regard prior to us getting over 1000 more early retirees.
I have seen guys say DAL was going scorched earth on furloughs and we may not furlough a single pilot.
All of our current complaints and criticisms will seem quaint if the BK dominoes start to fall in the US airline industry. If any of the biggest airlines go BK we are looking at years of pain - something we unfortunately are all too familiar with.

Where does this create training savings? Maybe I missed something. If the TLV reduction forces categories to have more pilots on a per block hour basis than previously wouldn't that require more training?

I think there is little impact on training costs for 2021. I was referring to the out years/long term when everyone is hopefully back on property and hiring starts again. I just don't see any significant savings to the company on training in this LOA.
