They are not supposed to use reinstatements to block MD's. They basically created fake MD's on the 220 to make the category artificially small so they can reinstate the current captains without ever displacing them. It is clearly unprecedented and a violation of seniority. The union should grieve this. They blocked 220 captain from being MD'd from other fleets. Union should win this.

If people want to change the bidding rules for the AE in the middle of an AE let’s just make all AE bidding purely based on seniority. No MD or reinstatements usurping senior pilots at all. But I’m sure some people don’t like that because they selfishly want to have two MD’s.

Let’s not change the PWA in the middle of an AE to satisfy a few people who don’t like where their seniority has placed them with the rules clearly in place. If you don’t like it then advocate to change the PWA in contract negotiations.

The -88, 777, and any pilots from a closed category are being railroaded. This is an easy fix. Give those pilots an MD equivalent bid this AE if they want it.

There is literally no chance that ALPA would win an arbitration over this. The contract couldn’t be any clearer.

Yes, please let’s make it pure seniority and get rid of MD’s usurping seniority. I’m being partially sarcastic. Look, they were real displacements. The rules currently in place should not be manipulated every time a few people don’t have things work out the way they personally want it to.

Exactly. I went from A to B on the moad. I have reinstatement rights but there’s no way I’ll get to use them. I’m also pretty sure that I will see pilots junior to me get back to A on different equipment and if we “redid” everything I would be able to bump them down. Does it suck? Sure. But it’s the contract and you cant just change things in the middle.

Do people have problems with junior MD pilots getting a spot before a senior AE pilot? I know the answer...never mind.

The contract was manipulated in an unprecedented way. The union would win. Talk to a lawyer.

Manipulated within the confines of the language? I’d be ok with us winning, but I can’t honestly think you believe your statement.

I think that is a knife that cuts both ways.

both sides are pretty creative interpreting and employing the language to best advantage

(Not a 2014+ hire, not that it even matters) I got HOSED on the MOAD. If the union were to try and manipulate/disable/circumvent my reinstatement claim on this AE, should I bring the PWA and talk to a lawyer too?
