Things only look normal becasue the terminasl do get crowded in between banks. The problem is that there are fewer banks and most of the flying is condensed into certain terminals. Traffic is still way down not even close to normal.

We kind of experienced the same thing at the Jersey shore this summer. Most restaurants are closed so the remaining outdoor restaurants were mobbed - 1-2 hour wait times for outdoor dining. Any individual "crowd" is purely anecdotal.

Exactly this! I’ve been in Detroit for a long sit. There are few times during the day it almost looks normal. However, the rest of the day, it’s a ghost town.

Unfortunately, there are just enough people that I can’t put my running shoes on and run the terminal anymore

The best part is starching your horse blanket, nailing it to a tree and whizzing on it every morning.
