The problem is right now there is a big shortage of cargo capacity. A large chunk of the worlds capacity was belly freight on aircraft now parked. By the time you could convert a aircraft to cargo that capacity will hopefully have returned and shipping rates will drop like a stone.

150 lb bags full of overnight packages, secured in a pax seat, that would make some dough quickly....under wing crews could strap them in & off you go...

Cargo may be doing well now but depending on how big a hit this makes to the world economy they may only be a few months behind on starting to feel the pain.

I think you’re right it may take too long to convert a 767 to a freighter to take advantage of crazy freight rates now. I do believe that pax will come back, but due to the much lower belly-capacity that freight rates will still stay high enough to justify converting and keeping the planes/employees working. Winning the lotto versus breaking even I guess...
