There is little money in freight. However, there is lots of money in overnight express cargo.

Edit: Post is not to insinuate that I think we should be jumping into that cargo world other than continuing to full up the bellies with cargo.

We don’t have the cash to get through a pandemic (we will but to stay with ridiculousness theme), yet we should buy/lease cargo jets to be a new entrant into the freight dog world. Unless you’re willing to compete against Connie Kalitta and Jeff Bezos... um no.

Interesting. Finding more revenue by the minute.

I saw the 2x LAX-SYD flights in open time a few days ago. As much as we like to disparage our management team, they are doing a good job finding more revenue. There is a short term need for increased express cargo right now. As the pandemic moves across the globe, there will be a need for quickly repositioning medical supplies.

We should convert some of our 75/76 to cargo. Reopen Delta Cargo and start competing with other airlines.

My friends at ATLAS are working a lot lately.

Thats down right logical. So I wouldn’t expect it to happen. I mean bourbon distilleries are making hand sanitizer, automotive plants are making ventilators, why should we alter our business to not only make money but also contribute to the logistics of keeping the economy moving around the world.

Speaking of hand sanitizer, the pump bottle in the lobby of the hotel in Santo Domingo is straight up rocket fuel. It’s been a week and I’m pretty sure my hands are still flammable.

Yeah, too much logic, but it probably cost too much money for management. I’m sure they think this is temporary revenue, not permanent.

But if you think about it...smaller acmi and cargo could also be in distress. We could convert 717 or other smaller aircraft in cargo carriers for smaller domestic flying and use 7ERs to do the heavy lifting between hubs. Conver 330S and 777 for international freight.

im sure they will be able to find used planes later for passengers when this is gone.
