Sick... good sick or bad sick?

When 65 happened, guys who were already off the seniority list had the option to come back as a new hire F/O. None (that I know of) did.

Today, if you're still on the seniority list and over 65, if the law changes you could come back directly to the left seat.

A FAA regulation does not require any congressional input much less approval.

All FAA regulations are based off of laws. 14 CFR is based on the laws of USC 49.

The USC 49 define maximum pilot age. Congress passes the laws found in USC 49. See 49 U.S. Code § 44729. Age standards for pilots

My point was that if ICAO doesn't recognize 65+, where do those guys go? How does bidding work? How does reserve assignments work? All without abrogating seniority.

Before the thread dies from trolls being directed to your post, let me say thank you for doing the research or taking the time to explain away the nonsense.

There are companies who have over 65 pilots on the seniority list for Part 91/135 flying and or instructor duties. Over 65 LCA can still give line checks from the jumpseat as well.

I also could care less. If, and it’s a big if, 67 happens it will be a blip compared to the 60-65 jump. Here is why:

Thousands of Pilots just had their pensions terminated, frozen, greatly reduced, etc. Not so this time.

Hundreds if not thousands were still on furlough. Not so this time.

Many were not hiring back then. Not so this time.

Many who were “Good to go at 60” will not be at 65.

While some may relish this opportunity, and good for them, many want to enjoy their retirement.

I just don’t think it matters and am basically agnostic on the whole issue.
