I sold my 3300 shares at about $13 per share. My thought process was if I had $40,000, would I buy Delta stock. The answer was hell no. $87,506 mistake right now, but who's counting? The guys relaying on financial engines really got screwed. It divested almost all the shares immediately at less than $5 per share. That was when I decided to never let financial engines have control over my money.

Also, for the newer guys that don’t know, all DL and NW pilots got several thousand shares of DL stock after the merger. Depending on how many shares you got, it could be worth a couple hundred grand now. If you retire at 65 and plan on having a 20 year retirement, that’s >10k a year. It’s not gonna sustain you solely, but it’s not nothing.
Rule #1: NEVER OWN AN AIRLINE STOCK
Rule #2: Never own stock in your own company (too many eggs in one basket).
The conventional wisdom at the time was to sell half the shares when (and if) the price doubled. Sell the rest when (and if) the price doubled again. Delta stock did and most sold. I rolled the proceeds into a S&P 500 ETF with no regrets.

As owning Delta stock broke the first two rules of investing most pilots sold pretty early on:
Rule #1: NEVER OWN AN AIRLINE STOCK
Rule #2: Never own stock in your own company (too many eggs in one basket).

Same here... I refused to follow my financial advisors advice on not having your own company’s stock. That’s emotional advice instead of technical. Delta seemed to be trying to run a good airline, so I held on.

No need to worry guys. I have it on good authority from "top men", this will all come to fruition and we ALL will win.
From Jerry off the UAL board re retirement....
"If it were 16%, and you are beyond clueless, 99% of our pilots would reject it in MEMRAT.
Delta made over a $6 Billion profit in 2019. They have bought back $15 Billion in stock.
We will attain the 25% and make major gains across our contract.
My hat is off to the United pilots for their firm stand on scope.
Concessions with this level of profitability are unconscionable."
So....
No need to fire into the circle. We will all be in "nirvana" ....Jerry says so😀

I just wonder how long it will take our new hires to realize how far off the grid we are. After I’m retired is my guess.

This is how this plays out. I don't see any other way. I've been vocal on here hoping to avoid this path, but Jerry, the rest of chit chat, and our MEC are dead set on taking this path.
The retirement ask split our group, gave false hope to the guys on the way out, and will be used against is as being outside the zone of reasonableness. It made the chit chat group happy, but did absolutely nothing to help anyone on our seniority list.
I would say our union leadership doesn't know what they are doing.

I realize it. I know where we're headed. Our last contracts were 3,3, and 4 year deals. We're going to skip a contract cycle trying to get this one done. Probably going to replace our union leaders after 2-3 years. They're going to leave telling the chit chat board we removed them before they could finish the job. It's our fault. The new guys will take over, but we'll be in a recession. We'll settle for some small gains with a signing bonus that only applies to the pilots on property at date of signing. We'll vote it in because we almost always do.
