Don't remember exactly but a think "a few thousand" is on the high side. Few implies 3 or more. It was more like 2-3.

Yeah, if you kept them. Not me, but a lot of guys who had Financial Engines doing stuff for them in their 401k had those shares sold almost before they hit the account. I believe the issue price was approx $4.

For pilots the min shares were around 3300, the max was around 4400, sliding scale based on seniority. Issued at $12/share (other employee groups could sell) and DALPA held them with Athena advisors until it was worth $4 and then gave them to us.

"Few" does not at all imply that. "Few" literally means more than one but small in number.

I remember a sliding scale based on seniority. I think I was in the low 3000 shares as a new hire. I think senior guys got just over 4000. Sold mine at $11 something (at a peak at the time). Reinvested in some other funds as I was young and didn’t want such a large portion of my retirement savings at the time in company stock.

I've flown with several that have held onto them.

After reading all of the back and forth over multiple threads about this, what I don't understand is why there is any expectation that someone who won't be around for the entire duration of the contract is entitled to an upfront value of what they'll be missing out on. Has that been the case in previous contracts?

I'll bet you will find a lot of people who say one is one, a couple is two and a few is 3+.

Do you use "few" when talking of 2 or do you say a couple?

It was a sliding scale. I just thought it started in the 2000 range. I could be and probably am wrong.

I was a 2007 hire and therefore very junior at the merge.

I got 3300 shares.
