Assume they do a MOAB in Feb 2020, and another 11 months later in Jan 2021. Then what? They can't do another one in 11 months, because that would be December 2021, which would be two in the same calendar year. So this attempt to stretch a 2-year seat lock into a 3-year seat lock will come to an end, barring a PWA change.
It’s late. Am I tired or does your argument not make sense? That would only be one iteration of the “plan.” After next year the formula works again. Hardly worthy of needing a PWA change. But again, I’m being an insomniac and may be sleep deprived.

Don't forget that in order to post a 365 day bid there must be displacements on the bid. Not saying they can't do a mini-displacement in January just like the small MSP one currently posted, but they've said the massive 88 displacement bid won't occur until May. I'm sure displacing people has it's own costs, and sometimes must be done, but it seems like a stretch to try to come up with some displacements just to time a MOAB...

At UPS:

18 month equipment freeze for newhires, 24 month equpiment freeze changing equipment but maintaining seat, 18 month equipment freeze if upgrading from FO to CA, equipment freezes waivable if bidding into a new domicile, and active equpiment freezes are not applicable if upgrading from FO to CA.

Very good observation. Didn't know that and sure enough the contract does say that.

Can you define category at UAL and how many are there? If you are bidding within your category what is the freeze and when does it start?

I don’t have their contract I front of me but was told recently by a UAL buddy that basically if they are moving up they can do that anytime. What is defined as “up” I am unsure. I feel confident saying I could start by bidding to the ER in January and end up on the 350 at the end of the year if the AEs has them and I could hold them with their rules.

It’s ok to concede we don’t have rules as good as others but also have better than some. I feel like you are constantly trying to explain away why some companies have better provisions by diverting attention to areas we have better.

FWIW. It was part of the concessions of LOA46. Prior, it was a 1 year seat lock from the award date. Much of the time it might be only 6 months when all said and done.

I don’t think it will be hard at all for them to get it back on this TA since it seems to be a higher priority than in the past.

This is correct. Also I believe if they haven't trained yet, they are not seatlocked. So if I held 777 last month, but train 6 months from now, I could bid the 787 this month.

Not saying we need this here, just trying to spread the knowledge!

24 month freeze, that a buddy thinks starts 90 days after the award or training start (whichever occurs first).
3 pay bands (737/320, 75/76, 78/77). If you move from one pay band to the next higher (or captain), you don't have to wait for a freeze to expire.

So in theory a newhire awarded the 320 could bid 75 at 6 months. Fly the 75 for a few months then bid 787.

That’s all correct except the freeze starts at the start of training or conversion whichever is first. They also allow 24 hour sim training which we might be able to use to get shorter freezes in negotiations.
