We are planning to open an MSP717 base on this AE...Because the base is new, we will carefully evaluate the volume of training demand created...If the volume of training would negatively impact our ability to prepare for summer flying, we will likely defer the opening to later in the year. If the base is opened, we will grow it opportunistically...
(emphasis mine) (also, I don't know why it's huge)

I'm really confused by this. Are they opening the base or not? I kinda understand that they can use the full 210 days to decide exactly when to open it, but the way it's worded it sounds like they're going to wait and see who bids for it. Can they do that?

I spend great family time. I gather you have no facts to support the mostly narrow body airline. Took me 2 minutes to look things up. We have about 13,200 line pilots now and about 5700 of them are on the 7ER or bigger.

Exactly. They don’t have to award any positions. That would be a first and test the meaning of the 60 days.

I think he’s at work when he’s on this board. There’s no way he spends this much time here uncompensated. IMHO (disclaimer because I don’t have any data)

I was just flying, a few loops, rolls and a hammerhead. Then 3 wheel landings and a full stop 3 Point! Heading to lunch with the wife now.

That’s impressive, I can barely keep my foot all the way in on the hammerhead and you’re typing.

They can award 0-20 positions per seat which means, in effect, they do not have to award anything. Solely their discretion. However, if they award at least one position in this AE, the 60-day new category clock starts ticking for the category. If they elect not to award any MSP717 positions, the 60-day clock will not start running.

It seems like they are hoping that the 15 7ERBs will displace to the 717 and that the remaining vacancies will be filled by pilots currently qualified in the B717.

I am confused by this too. So basically if I understand correctly Delta will proceed with this plan as long as it’s possible to implement it by Summer 2020 with minimal training impact. They will hold off if the staffing of MSP isn’t funded by the attrition from NYC/ATL, which I do believe it will be. There are a few 88A displacements from MSP that are on the 717 in NYC and DTW. So I think this is a slam dunk for them.

Just because you don't like what he says, doesn't mean he's a management mouth piece. SF asking you for facts isn't an attack. I've been at odds with SF quite a few times and he sticks to facts and does it without any real naming calling/deragatory remarks. I'm glad he still posts on here.
