They should go to United if that is the case. Research Global reserve at UAL and I suspect you will understand why they can hold it. As I posted here heads would explode at Delta if the company even suggested it.

When the company planned the prior bids they anticipated about 530 retirement. That included a factor for early outs.

The FAA and EASA have been aligning their aviation regulations for years...right down to the regulation number. I would speculate that the U.S. will not raise the mandatory retirement age until EASA does...if ever. However, if EASA raises their retirement age, the FAA will as well.
