Also, both A’s and B’s or just B’s? I think the B side was the over staffed side.

Despite the fun rumors here, that’s more what I expected. A small bid to adjust a few things, and yet another MOAB coming our way in the spring.
Perhaps this is the not-so-new norm, given the already stated benefits to the company in the form of seat locks and training reductions.

Or perhaps the widebody fleet plan is still not locked down and they are waiting to hear the final decisions.

And this is not including the additional 350 deliveries announced yesterday.

Lots of movement coming. One of these A positions dropping to a pilot in their 40s is not too far off

Could be - I spoke to Schmelzer personally a month ago at a Pilot meeting and he showed some of the "upcoming AE" as he said - which included 777A, 330A, 350A, as Trip7 had said, in largish numbers. Guess the plan changed.

Edit: the video mentions the 330 training pipeline is full, and the 777 doesn't need people until later in the spring.

+1. Looks like they are moving majority of Widebody positions to 365 AE.

That may be part of it. I really suspect this AE is more to ensure a steady supply of students so they don’t have unused training slots for the next couple of months. With the large amount of hiring over the next year, they can’t afford to let training slots go unfilled.

Just wanted to point out that nobody here knows what they are talking about.
